History of Institute of Management Consultants Hong Kong

The Hong Kong is a story of the transformation of city into a modern metropolis from a small fishing village on the south China coast. As the policy of freedom of trading, the growth cycle of the macro economy of Hong Kong over the past 40 years can be portrayed by the real growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The take-off of the Hong Kong economy took place in the 1970s, with annual economic growth (measured by the growth of GDP in real terms) averaged at 8.9%. The 1980s was the period of consolidation of the economic development of Hong Kong, with an average annual economic growth of 7.4%. During the end of the 1990s and the early millennium, the Hong Kong economic growth was subject to considerable development and become a important city of international trading in the world.

As the rapid growth of economy, The Institute of Management Consultants Hong Kong (IMCHK) supported by International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI) is the professional body that sets and maintains high standards of quality, independence, objectivity, and integrity for Certified Management (CMC) Consultants originating in Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions (SAR). Founded in October 2000, IMCHK campaigns for greater recognition and strives to enhance the quality of the profession to match the highest global standards.

The Institute pursues its goals through negotiations with the Government, major consulting firms and clients principally in Hong Kong but also in Greater China on standards, methods of consultant selection, methodologies and best practices, training and development, resolution of disagreement, and discipline and ethics.

Now Hong Kong Hong and Macau are the international and leading cities in Greater Bay Area. IMCHK will promote and develop management consultancy and CMC professional in regional cities to support the on-going development in south China.
