What is a CMC  ?

When you see the initials CMC following a consultant's name, it means that he or she is a Certified Management Consultant and has met strict certification requirements of the Institute of Management Consultants in his or her country.

If that Institute is a member of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes, the initials mean the consultant has met world class standards of competence, ethics and independence, and is eligible for reciprocity between ICMCI member institutes.

                                                   Benefits of CMC

The CMC mark of excellence is used worldwide to identify a certified management consultant whose status is recognised by a national institute, in this case the IMCHK, of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI). The International Council provides for reciprocity of recognition of the CMC accreditation provided the receiving institute follows the international model for certification. A list of qualifying national institutes is published on the web site and updated annually (www.icmci.org). Please refer to it or ask your membership subcommittee representative for more information.

There are close to 50 countries accepting reciprocity with Hong Kong through the ICMCI, and have met strict certification requirements of the Institute of Management Consultants in his or her country.

If that Institute is a member of the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes, the initials mean the consultant has met world class standards of competence, ethics and independence, and is eligible for reciprocity between ICMCI member institutes.

                                                 CMC Reciprocity Guide

To all ICMCI member Trustees and member executives

One of the great strengths of the CMC is that it is recognised in all ICMCI member countries. The standard is the same throughout the world and so a CMC that is awarded by one member of ICMCI should be recognised by all other members.

This is the principal of reciprocity, which has been in place since the foundation of ICMCI. There have been of late, however, a number of situations where members have been confused what the current regulations are governing reciprocity. The attached Paper (Reciprocity Rules) has been prepared for members’ information and summarises what they are.
